The movie. I grew up reading comics, so I am kinda biased. So forgive me when I say: It was OK. Good:You won't need to think. The actors didn't really need to act. Hemsworth was pretty good, he seems like Thor (sorry Adventures in Babysitting mechanic-guy). Portman smiles a lot, and that's cool. Some good sfx. Bad: The theater that I go to no longer gives you an option between 3D or non-3D, if a movie comes out in 3D you have no choice. My hate for the 3D craze is now physically tangible. :Thor is based on Norse mythology, you know from the Scandinavian people, and all of the Gods are white. And yet they stuck a black dude and a asian guy into roles as Norse gods. www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2010/apr/27/idris-elba-thor-race-debateAnywho,

MF'ing bobharris. Thor & Green Lantern were two of my favorite comics as a kid. I doubt I'll bother to watch either movie, though. Even with Lively & Portman.

So on the Ironman scale it was much closer to 1 than 2, eh?
That's good to hear. I will check it out as I love the Avengers, but I am glad to hear that it's not a total shitbox.

BTW, I'd really like to make a movie about the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with Seth Rogen starring as the lead.
What? Just because he was black, a black guy has to play him? Bullocks to that.

I've vowed to never watch another one of these comic book movies. I broke my own rule for Iron Man 2 because my wife's 11 year old brother begged us to take him, and I spent the next 3 hours kicking myself for it. All these flicks are a hot mess of bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, and cartoon special effects. Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Thor, The Avengers, and whatever else is on the horizon all just look like total chores to sit through. One word perfectly sums up comic book movies for me - "Unconvincing." You can apply it to the dialog, the performances, and the CGI.
Now, in an attempt to inoculate myself from charges of snobbery I'll admit to having recently gone to see Scream 4, and enjoying it. I like a good bad movie, but this recent wave of comic CGIgasms aren't even pulling that off.

"If I’d wanted all that computer game bullshit, I’d have gone home and stuck my dick in my Nintendo. " www.cinemaeye.com/index/movienews/more/208/I can't find a link, but he claims that Lucy Liu's scalp peeling off in Kill Bill was not CGI. I know Nolan isn't popular in these quarters, and the Dark Knight even less so, but I think it's awesome that he used it sparingly. www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magazine/16-07/ff_darknight?currentPage=1Not many directors would put Bale himself on the edge of the Sears Tower, or bother to haggle with the Chinese government to film real helicopters in their airspace, or even go to China in the first place with CGI so readily available. I found these articles from this one, www.cracked.com/article_19140_8-movie-special-effects-you-wont-believe-arent-cgi.html
