I am still confused on what your point is. So you are upset with H&H because we are last in preseason power rankings? I'll be watching the game from my couch tomorrow. I'll be far more interested in seeing how the youngsters that Heckert has acquired look over wins and losses all season. I think most will be pleased after this season, but I have been wrong before. My only point is to provide the consensus I mentioned. I generally think we are going to be better than everyone thinks, and I am generally wrong. Which makes me think maybe I don't know shit.

Holmesgrinz, Heckyeah and Shirmer all think the Browns are waaaay better. Who to believe? Teams I think are worse than the Browns: Dolphins, Colts, someone from the AFC West, Cardinals and Rams My projection: 6-10 with a hope that they stay healthy and things click in the second half for a 7-9 record I agree that it's hard to imagine that at least the Dolphins and Rams won't be worse than the Browns. It seems like people have so overreacted to RB devaluation that they think they are completely irrrelevant. Maybe an elite RB isn't enough to make you a contender, but it's enough to take you from the cellar to the middle of the pack. Anyways, my point is that I'm pissed at H&H because it is year 3 and we are saying "I think the Browns are better than 4 teams".

They look like every other Browns team in the last 10 years.
Color me shocked.

He just needs some experience. By the time he's 40 he should have things figured out.

Nothing about the NFL can hold my attention. It really is an awful product.

Nothing about the NFL can hold my attention. It really is an awful product. I have been wondering for a couple years if it's just an emotional attachment to the orange helmets that keeps me tuned in.

That is it for me, but like today, they have done an effective job of destroying that attachment.

Offense today was worse than 2000. Was like watching the expansion team. Even worse, since defense played so great.

As a rookie, Spergeon Wynn completed 17 of his first 38 passes for 150 yards, 0 tds, and 1 int.

I'm hardly a sophisticated football viewer, but they seem so damn predictable pre-snap. The majority of running plays are run out of a bunch set, and um, we never seem to get any push or running lanes. Passing, we keep taking Big 12 QB's then put them under center. Feh, I just ain't savvy nuff.

Derek Anderson 2.0 performed pretty much like I expected.

It seems to me that a hof owner should make it to the sb more than once every 12 or 14 years, since that would be average considering number of teams in conference. One appearance in over 3 decades seems kind of shitty to me.

Seriously though, like any of these phonies are going to say anything mildly inflammatory about the guy who made it possible for a bunch of 5'8" white dudes to dress up in suits and act like they're experts in football.
It's not like he was some replacement referee who had no bearing on their professional career. Because then they could just rip every minor mistake he made mercilessly.

Are they bad? Yes.
Were the regular officials bad? You bet.

The most interesting thing about the whole situation is that it is open season on replacement refs in the media.
Whereas before they had to screw up the outcome of an entire game to garner any national attention, now every time they miss a potential call, minor though it may be, it is acknowledged as a blown call. Before you always got, 'well he may have had a complaint on that call/no-call'.
The league is in a situation where they could go either way, and for some reason they are implicitly backing the regulars, whom they're at odds with. It's rather fascinating.

I liked it when the ref today called a penalty on "the green".

The truth is, you can just pull a bunch of low grade, barely college level referees a few months before the season starts and they can do a comparable job to what you'd get from "professional" referees. Because the pros are that bad, or the game is so flawed that it's impossible for anyone to officiate it well.
Probably both.
Truth be told, half of those holding calls on the Eagles yesterday were no-calls if regular refs were on the field. Because they know enough that the Eagles are way better than the Browns, and they don't need to hold to win, ergo they don't hold.
I thought they did a pretty good job overall week 1. Of course none of them know what pass interference or defensive holding is at this level; that's really the only hole. I don't think there was an illegal contact call across the entire league yesterday.

I'd just like to say Fuck Owen Marecic. Worst pick of the H&H era, considering position and incumbent?
