This whole thing is pretty much exactly like the movie Armed and Dangerous to me.
Which makes it awesome.

So this is stupid, but when I read things like "it's hard for us to tell our reporters not to announce draft picks as soon as they know, because that's what their job is" I shake my head. A reporter's job shouldn't be to trying to break news 10 seconds before it is widely available, that is the worst kind of fake news. Who cares if Adam Schefter found out before Joe Bloe?

No, I dont have television service. But I am aware of it. Same issue. I believe Ive complained about sports journalism in the past, although its more in the manner of 'journalists' pretending they dont control what is a story and are just reporting what people are talking about, and that sports journalists are notorious mouthpieces to those they cover.

I don't have cable either, they do these crazy things called "streaming massive city wide manhunts on the internet" Now.
I admittedly watched as little as possible of it though. The 24 hours of sirens was enough.

Another step in the total demolition of the enjoyability of the NFL Draft. Of course it also helps to expose how stupid it is to sit around for hours in rapt attention watching a clock count down for 15 minutes waiting to hear somebody read a guy's name off a card.

The NFL is marketed by baby boomers for baby boomers...example #1254
Saw a pic of the team hats for the draft. They're awful. Awful in every way.
Can't they hire some 26 yr old to design them. Ugh.

When it comes to heart disease, I'll stack the KC fans up against Packers and Bears fans any day of the week. Severely underrated.

I see reactions are decidedly mixed to negative. My reaction was "ugh", but then I thought about it and I would have had the same reaction to whomever they picked in this draft. Or even a trade down.
I used to have strong opinions on who they should draft, but I don't know shit anymore. And neither does anyone else.

The only thing I know about this draft is that Jarvis Jones was the best defensive player I saw last year and ended up sliding down to the Steelers because of workouts.
So... yeah... I expect him to be James Harrison II in a year, two max.

Right. It is a little frustrating that we picked 11 ahead of the steelers, took the same position from the same conference,, and they got the guy with 3x as many sacks.
At least it will make the evaluation of this regime easy and rapid.

To be fair, he slid for some reasons other than work outs. The guy could be out of football in a year because of his back issue.

Don't worry -- the Steelers' Golden Touch will heal his back issues.

Because they weighted workouts high... One of the stupidest statistical rankings ever.

And to the point of last night's draft (I'm not criticizing the pick, I really don't care either way), since when are SPEED RUSHERS!@$!$! the elite NFL pass rushers?
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but the bust rate on speed rushers w/out college production is about 100x greater than proven pass rushers coming out.
When is the last time the Steelers had a pure freak speed rusher? Pats? Ravens? Jets of a few years ago when they were good?
I mean there are some really good ones, don't get me wrong, but when you are seeing three guys go in the top six purely on BIG AND FAST!#%!#%!#% it's going way the fuck too far.
BTW: Also the Outsiders piece is incredible hot garbage because it goes so far as of to adjust for how many times a player dropped into coverage!#%!! and then follows that up by comparing Jones production in The SEC to Suggs production in the mid-aughts Pac 10 without even mentioning the competition disparity.

Because they weighted workouts high... One of the stupidest statistical rankings ever. It looks like they regressed from previous drafts and pro productivity. Not a bad method, but doesn't mean it is meaningful going forward. Especially as this type of thing becomes more common.

I like to say nonsense words to my dogs to confuse them.
I usually say the words with a commanding and intense voice just to fuck with them. It's funny to watch them tilt their heads and run around in circles trying to figure out what I mean.
Barkevious is perfect for this. It sounds like absolutely no other word in the language.

So this honey badger guy was like the best defensive player in the country by a mile, then everyone found out he smoked weed regularly and now he can't play because rich old white guys are worried about the reefer madness.

So they traded their 4th and 5th rounders for Davone Bess, a 3rd, and a 7th.
The NFL draft is weird.
