It's going to be great when we beat the Steelers twice. Then it's going to suck when they pick their next HOF QB a couple picks ahead of us.

So I just heard Von Miller only got caught because the substitute sample they used was from another city. Now, I'm no genius sleuth like all these highly paid NFL reporters, but doesn't it seem like if that's what it took to catch him other guys must be doing this all the time?

We've all heard how impressive it is that Peyton basically calls his own game. But why doesn't anyone ask whether he would be even better with a real offensive coordinator/play caller? What are the odds that he isn't just one of the best qbs ever, but a better play caller than anyone else out there? And not just that, but so much better that he is capable of doing it while playing QB and not seeing everything from up op? About 1 in a trillion? How come no one ever talks about this?
I'm sure Michael Jordan could have coached the Bulls to a title. But he didn't. And he won 6.

It's pretty impressive T-Rich is going to end up one of the three biggest busts drafted by the Browns.

Bryant, Mingo, Hoyer, and Richardson are all making Banner/Lombardi look as smart as they think they are.

They'll probably do what 90% of NFL GM's would do... Draft one of the LT's in the first (and there are multiple good options), a DB or WR in the 2nd, be pissed they gave us their 3rd, and hope Jarvis Jones elevates his game to be an impact defensive player.
I doubt Jones can do that at his size and athleticism, but they could have a very good offensive line to build off of in that scenario.

The NFL really needs to adopt the college PI rule and add a spot-of-foul flagrant PI for situations where a guy commits PI because he is clearly beat.

That makes about as much sense as having a 5-yard incidental roughing the passer penalty
i.e. too much sense for Neanderthal Fan League

Watched the Colts game today. Luck is really, really good. Clearly better than the other young QBs. But I don't see how he stays healthy. He doesn't protect himself at all.
And Richardson. Yeesh. I know why people who just watch him for a game or two think he is really good; looks the part, that hair flying everywhere, big collisions with DLs and LBs, breaking tackles, legs churning. But man, if his longest run doesn't demonstrate why he is a replacement level RB, nothing does. Runs right through enormous hole, first guy he encounters is the S 20 yards downfield, and he runs right into him for an easy tackle. That should have been a 90 yard TD run.

So, I don't know what they would get for Gordon. But I saw, for example, a piece on GL suggesting a 4th rounder from New England (this was after the Richardson trade as part of a larger piece).
That's ridiculous. The starting point is the Julio Jones trade. Gordon is a better talent than Julio and has already proven he is a star.

I can only assume that the term Redskin is the highest honor and reserved for that use, which is why I've never once heard it used in conversation that wasn't about a football team.

I don't know if I would go as far as calling him a better talent than Julio. That really is a bit much. But the starting point is at least a 1 plus a mid round pick.

So they totally should have gone for it on 4th and goal w/ 17 seconds left.
Broached the subject whilst watching the game and was shouted down.
Probably I was the only one who wasn't suffering the lingering effects of repeated head trauma suffered whilst playing high school football.

I mean,
> You score a TD, you're up 10 w/ ~ 10 seconds remaining. Game over. Plus after running 3 times straight, you can now go play action since the clock stops anyway
> You fail to score, Baltimore gets the ball w/ ~ 10 seconds left, no timeouts, 65 yards from field goal range. They basically have to go 95 yards in two plays. Which means they have to gain like 40 yards, and get out of bounds, in less than 10 seconds, just to be in range to throw a hail mary.
> Instead I was told that you kick the field goal, go up 6 w/ 13 seconds left. Then you have to kick off. Kick deep and there's a chance for a big return. So you squib it. Then you give the ball to Baltimore around the 25 or 35 yard line with enough time to run a play, get out of bounds, run another play, get out of bounds, then throw one to the end zone, which is now well within range with Flacco's arm.
I have a hard time believing that the last option gives the best chance to win.
Watching football can be maddening. Nobody thinks. Half the time people can't figure out when they should go for 2. And I hear multiple pleas to challenge spots every week. That almost never works. Something like the end of last week's game doesn't even get discussed. They totally did the worst thing they could do strategically and not only did nobody notice, everybody acted like kicking was a no-brainer.
Of course, Baltimore followed this up by playing it completely wrong themselves, so I guess it evens out.

I was more upset by the fact the clock stopped on the horse collar personal foul. That's bullshit. They ought to have been able to kneel down after they got that last first down.

Also if they were to go for it on 4th down, which I agree with, no one in hell am I throwing the ball. Just run it again. An INT to the outside in that part of the field is a TAINT.
