Winning in the current NFL comes down to whose QB better exploits the fact that CBs are not allowed to touch WRs and QBs are only hit in a 3 by 3 box that prevents injury as much as possible. If the NFL changes the rules the playoffs will no longer be nothing more than a show of who out QBs who. Remember when Sanchez did this to Brady last year? You went with the wrong pretty boy, Gizzle!

If he was supposed to be throwing to that red team, he'd look pretty good. Maybe he's colorblind?

Shurmurnator declines to say McCoy is starter. Also, Shur is looking for an OC.

I think there's a good chance that Wright is the 2nd WR taken and long gone by pick 25ish.

Through the magic of TCF, I've found a silver lining to us missing out or, even better, passing on RG3.

The 5 pts per game difference between our #5 ranked scoring defense and Pittsburgh's #1 ranked scoring defense is the same difference between our #5 ranked scoring defense and Detroit's #23 ranked scoring defense.

9.6 pts per game difference between the #5 & #1 offenses, takes you down to #28 in the other direction.
Not QBZ proof. Middle 2/3 Mediocrity proof.

Seeing that the entire AFCN was in the top 5 (or whatever) for defense makes me really, really question how valuable these kinds of stats are.
Just seems like a scheduling artifact to me.

ONLY WAT TO NOT BE MEDIOCRE IS QBZ

I was thinking the same thing, but comparing the combined opponents' scoring averages of us vs. San Francisco (some schedule overlap there, but still...), the combined difference is something like 3pts, compared to the 78pt difference separating us in terms of points surrendered.

SF is still pretty mediocre, as we will see soon enough.

SF is still pretty mediocre, as we will see soon enough. Maybe! But even if we don't, it still won't matter, because then it will have been a fluke! Just like the Jets over the Patriots last year! And the Seahawks over the Saints last year! When teams with great defenses lose in the playoffs, it's damning evidence that their style of play is outdated. When teams with great QBs lose in the playoffs, tis but a fluke! What we desperately need is a franchise QB like Matt Ryan...until the Giants defense kicks his ass, then "Wake me when Atlanta wins the SB with their mediocre-to-bad QB," which back in 2007, of course, would have been: "Wake me when New York wins the SB with their mediocre-to-bad QB" before New York won, but since New York won, it's now: "We desperately need a franchise QB like Eli Manning!" (Many TCFers need to die in a fire.)

Manning was very good this year.
I hated Ryan all the way back to college and never bought into the hype.
That said I do agree you have to take a shot at a top QB prospect every chance you get. You can build SF's defense without drafting early, ya know?

Just looking at scoring offense, everyone got to play the following teams which ranked in the bottom half St. Louis (32) Indy (29) Jax (28) Arizona (24) Seattle (23) Tennessee (22)
And then we have Cleveland (30) Pittsburgh (21) Cincy (18)
So everyone got at least 10 games against teams 18th or worse in scoring. Baltimore got 12!
Houston was the best common opponent, and they are hard to rank because of the late injury to Schaub. Except for Cincy, everyone played them before this. 7 of the top 10 scoring offenses were in NFC divisions that everyone missed. So there were only 2 games against teams other than Houston that had 10 top scoring offenses (NE and SD).
