Do we not like it? It's never broached. Well...the new Jack White is fascinating. A fusion of all sorts of things. I liked most of it. But the best new stuff I've come across is some black Brit, Michael Kiwanuka. Soulful, funk, jazz, smooth voice. Think Otis Redding-esque. Love his album Home Again. This is about as snobbery as I get with music. Prefer to not come across as a music snob. Those guys are douches. Pretty sure bobbyflats is a music snob. Sorry, bobby. So...(the obligatory) what's got your ear lately?

It's never discussed because e0 will pollute it with trashy rap crap.
Really though, very little that has come out in the last 15 years interests me. I like Jack White. I like The Black Keys. I can't really think of anything else that I care about, currently, and even those two bands barely intrigue me enough to pirate their shit.
Music is feh, now. I'm going to go listen to some Deftones.

New music has been sadly/old-man-edly declining for me over the last decade(?). I, too, like Jack White (Dead Weather stuff especially) and The Black Keys, but in the back of my head, I know that retro sound is the kind of new music that's supposed to appeal to old people. Otherwise, as I've said before, I'll generally take a look at Danger Mouse projects. New Common & Kanye are still assumed buys; though, like Nas & Mos Def & Kweli & the Beastie Boys & many others before them--the strength of that assumption is dwindling fast. I'm generally more likely to find "new" music by finding something old that's new to me, than I am to find something current that I really like. <--probably about five years away from having to take pills so that <-- can go out in public for longer than an hour without pissing <--self.

Music: Bayside, Rebelution, Rise Against, Pretty Lights. I have a buddy in college that helps me stay somewhat current. Not a fan of the retro / indie rock although The Black Keys are probably the most tolerable.
Actually saw Bayside in C-Town last fall at House of Blues. Good place to see a show.

When you started this thread, saying:

...were you under the mistaken assumption that we, too, are embodiments of fatal diseases?
Also, please leave Jack White alone.

Kast and Nas way too low. Kast, overall, is a top three or four group of all time.
I'm not going to paste my current reading list becaues you all will make fun of it. Kinda like how mmmBOP shouldn't have admitted he likes Rise Against (SMH x inifity)

But has Outkast ever had a Top 3-4 all-time album?
^Different question.
Few (if any) could put together a better singles collection than Nas, but I don't think he's ever truly had a great album.
Also, you should paste your reading list. I listened to samples for all of MMM's groups and remained respectfully mum. I can do the same, if necessary, for your list. Even though it's more fun to be mean to you, since you always seem to have it coming.
In the interest of fair trade!
Last book I finished: Katherine Anne Porter's triptych Pale Horse, Pale Rider. It was good. (2nd & 3rd stories, especially.) People who haven't read it should read it.
Book I'm reading right now: Malcolm Lowry's Under the Volcano. So far, it's OKish/goodish.

Vanilla Ice was on CNBC today talking about his house-flipping business.
In related news, CNBC has to fill ~ 18 hours of programming each day, and apparently you can only yell about the stock market for so long before you pick up the phone and ring Vanilla Ice

My best fiction pieces in writing sems in college were all Kafka inspired. If it was anything like the poorly-imitated Kafkycat stories frequently published in lit journals, probably not. IT"S WEIRD SO ITZ LIKE KAFCKA, RIGHT?!?1!1?! (Also, if you've already read all of Kafka, should I also assume that you've already read all of Tolstoy, Gogol, and Chekov, and that's why you'd bother with Dostoevsky?)
