The movies.
Just for e0y.
Super 8: Meh+ Probably the best of this group. That may not be saying a whole helluva lot, though. I usually have trouble with films with chrildren as the protagonist(s), something just off-putting as a 35 year old viewer. Pan's Labyrinth is the only exception that comes to mind.
They weren't too bad in this though. I really dug the first 2/3 of it. Had a Close Encounters meets 50's sci fi feel. Kinda becomes predictable and hokey at the end.
Green Lantern: Feh+
Eh. Probably not as bad as you've heard/read, but close. For reasons that I cannot fathom, I don't seem to hate Ryan Reynolds as much as everyone else (prolly this whole board). There could be potential in this franchise, they just need to make it a big space epic-type thing and run with it.
Hangover 2: Feh - If you've seen the first one, you could make the argument that you've already seen this one. I did laugh at a few points. Mostly Galifinakis. Sorry, don't hate him all that much either.
Transformers: Meh
Two and a half hours? Fucking seriously? So much stupid subplot shit, you could trim out an hour easily and just have giant robots fight. Still probably wouldn't warrant a second viewing.
I was gonna wait til midnight to post this.
MFA: All kinds of shit, hit some random key that made it post when I wasn't done.

The fact that you even went to Transformers means you have poor judgment, and casts a shadow on every review you write. And why no rundown of the only sumer movie e0 even cares about - Larry Crowne?
Let me give you a preemptive Larry Crowne summary - Tom Hanks is on a scooter. Then you leave the theater feeling like you spent those two hours eating a jar of mayo.

You have a superhero who flies around and wears a MF'ing CGI ring for F's sake. How do you F that up?

I knew it was gonna suck, flats.
Some of my high school buddies and I have a tradition of going to all of the big summer movie premiers, even ones like Transformers. It started with "Batman Returns," IIRC. Nowadays, we get drinks, go to the midnight movie, then get breakfast. It's evolved into a "keep in touch" thing as we got older. Sue me.

You shouldn't have been that sentimental, bobharris! Sorry bow. Should I have left out "Sue me."? Also, at the place I go to, they just announced a 21 and older theater as an option. Alcohol is served and no annoying teenagers. Is that worth an extra $2.50? Fuck yes.

We can't undo what's been done, bobharris.
All we can do now is be thankful for the Vertigo reference that was prompted by "Sue me."

Pefect even. I've seen the trailer for that damn thin twice in theators and felt like I ate a half a jar of mayo.

Julia Roberts is sad that she doesn't at least bring a tangy zip.

I actually really enjoyed Super 8 for a “Summer” blockbuster.
Found it kind of nice, enjoyable, etc.
Little Fanning was really good too. Like really good. After watching her sister in Runaways I’ve realized that they both are really good.
Just felt like a summer movie, more so probably than any other summer movie in awhile (even the Dark Knight – not saying it was better, THAT UPSETS PEOPLE)

Trying to decide between Tree of Life or the new Woody Allen tonight. Anyone wanna vouch for one of those over the other?

Only seen Tree of Life and I still don't know if I hated it or not.
I can't even explain it, can only say it's art and impressive in it's aim but gawd damn does it wear on you at points. I also would recommend doing drugs before you go. I didn't but man do I wish I had.
Some people were literally yelling at the movie screen to end for the last ten minutes and others sat there for a half hour afterwards reveling in its awesome.
I just found myself vacant.
Is Sco-Jo in Woody's new pic?

Although I will admit that this Woody Allen movie isn't all that enticing considering that Rachel McAdams is a crusty bitch.

So TOL is... a Terrence Malick movie. Got it.
Woody Allen has had more misses than hits over the last 20 years, but when he's good he's great, so I'll always give one of his movies a shot. It's the same policy I have for Spike Lee movies. As godawful as "She Hate Me" or "Miracle at St. Anna" are, you've gotta keep going back because you know he's got the next "25th Hour" or "Inside Man" waiting in the chamber too.

ToL is a Terrence Malick movie where Malick is completely uninhibited and produces pretty much his own wet dream of film making.
It's not just a Terrence Malick movie it is THE Terrence Malick movie

BTW: this week marked the turning of the intellectuals re: Michael Bay and it has been hilarious. Everyone from Salon to Grantland has put out pieces defending him. I love it when everyone wants to sound smarter than the next guy and changes their mind on obvious truth just to be contrarian then looks up and realizes everyone else pulled the same move.
Idiots.

70s movies are too old for you?
I'm pretty sure the only Woody Allen movie I ever saw was Annie Hall, and it was mehaiiightish.

70 movies = too old but I will occasionally make an exception
The 80s were an abortion and didn't happen.
Society began in the mid 1990's when all of the 80's rot was cleansed.

#1-I don't care about tennis.
#2-I don't care about soccer.
#3-"Self-awareness" is not a synonym for "humanizing oneself." That article is annoying.
#4-was decent.
