I came into this season thinking the Celtics would end up blown up by the deadline.
I still feel that way.

Also, the Iman Shumpert hype looks legit. Kid's motor is overdrive.

Lord knows I would never make a judgement on a team after a half, but the Celtics look completely worn out and lackluster.

sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_michael_jordan_nba_2011-12_season_122411How short sighted are these morons running companies? It serves no purpose to have their two biggest stars in Chicago? Ok, I understand the superficial argument. But how can they not consider the effect that Rose + Howard reeling off the next 5 titles would have on Adidas? That certainly seems more valuable than them both losing over and over to the Heat and Clippers (and Knicks)! Do they think Nike is losing money because Wade and LeBron are on the same team? Or perhaps Nike realizes that if they start winning titles together, it acts as a huge multiplier. And even if not, the hype of having them play together is enormous. Businessmen are dumb. Also, the whole situation sucks. Shoe companies deciding where players go. Boo.

I mean, seriously. Talk about short sighted. Put Howard in NJ, and Rose in Chicago. Maybe they are good endorsers now, but there is no long term there.
Put them on the same team and let them grab a fistful of rings, and they become LIFELONG endorsers.

There's nothing I like more than seeing Spike Lee on the bench with a vacant look on his face, staring into the distance.

Rondo is the most underrated player in the NBA. I don't understand why he isn't included with Rose and Paul, he is just as good.

Meh. One of the very few things Simmons is and has been right about is Rondo. Until he gets comfortable enough scoring to become a viable down the stretch option consistently he is going to remain behind the elite PGs.
He could make that leap, don't get me wrong, but he still has to make it before he is in the same breathe as Paul, D-Will and Rose.

And The Heat made like eleventy billion dollars last year in ad/marketing revenue. If that article is correct (and I doubt it is) Adidas is the dumbest company in the history of the world.

People do realize that it took the Mavs 2/3 of the season last year to figure out their rotations/chemistry and that the same thing is going to happen this year, right?
Good lord some overreactions out there.
(granted I did the same with the C's thinking KG was finally dead)

BTW: when are analysts (particularly ESPN) going to stop pretending like Vince Carter is still a relevant NBA player? I give it a month before Carlisle has him glued to the bench.

Why are you surprised? The media is always 2 years behind, at least.

Also, the amount of teeth gnashing that is going to go on in Cleveland this year over Norris Cole playing a perfectly below avg back-up PG for the Heat is going to be one of my favorite aspects on this season.

So, uhm, is Rose going to score?
Is there a worse/whiter bench in the league than the Lakers?
Will Troy Murphy have a job in two weeks?
I need answers!!!

When Mike Brown high when he decided his role on the team was offense off the bench?

The Bulls roster has the same problems it had last year, Richard Hamilton fixes nothing.
And the Lakers, well christ, that bench......

The Bulls roster has the same problems it had last year, Richard Hamilton fixes nothing. Uh yeah. The problem is that Derrick Rose isn't a point guard. It doesn't matter who else they add short of another super star who can just get the ball and do his own thing.

To make clear, I am saying that Derrick Rose really is what they kept calling him 2 years ago, "Mini LeBron".
Not personality wise, but game wise. They aren't point guards! I don't care how pretty they can pass (LeBron) or how much they can penetrate (Rose), they don't know how to run an offense (ie: get everyone else involved and give them the ball in their best spots).
The "solution" to the Bulls problems in the media was the same thing we heard about the Cavs for years: "they need a shooting guard!!!"
What they need is a guy who knows how to distribute the ball correctly, not a SG to stand at the 3 point line and shoot jumpers whenever LeBron/Rose decide in their wisdom to let them have the ball.
The Heat had (with just Wade) and still have the same problem on offense; now they just have overwhelming talent.
I'll also add that it's highly questionable whether LeBron/Wade/Rose would ever defer enough to a point guard that is not super elite to make it work.

This is also why I think Rondo is in the elite class of PGs. He does it better than anyone; I don't care if he isn't the finisher Rose is. I don't think your PG should be your finisher.
Chris Paul maybe is on another level, since he can do it all. But Rose has at least as gaping a hole in his game as Rondo; maybe more, since he is deficient on the key PG gene while Rondo has an extra chromosome.
