You should have stood out front, repeatedly screaming into your cellphone: "Mommmm! Where the F ARE YOU!??!?!" Yes. Exactly right, I should have. It is key that I say "F" instead of "fuck." Perfectly completes the mental scenario for the tired parents witnessing it. An exaltation for you bow.

I bet those American Pie people are bummed that they can't get work outside of American Pie movies.
Also, why are they getting together for they're 13-year reunion?

Just watched Drive. Gosling is a badass. Who knew?
The mouth-breather mask that makes him look like sloth from the Goonies is a nice touch, too.

Been meaning to see that. Anywho: The Cabin In The Woods: Heh Yes, Heh. I saw about half of a 30 second trailer on TV and thought meh. I only really went because one of my friends likes Joss Whedon, to whom I am indifferent, having seen none of his work. I was also worried about an annoying crowd, but that wasn't too bad. If you have any desire to see this, do NOT read anything/watch any trailers. The Good: I can only say that the story is unique and keeps you guessing from the very beginning. The are some good performances and some good nudity. I know this is vague, but to spoil this movie would be a huge disservice. Also it's not in 3D. The Bad: Not a whole lot here. It's love/hate territory. There is that one annoying character. Although, as the movie progresses, it kind of folds in with the rest of the plot. EDIT: I spelled Joss Whedon as Joss Weeden. Which is funny 'cause I'm not real sure how I feel about Weeden.

This Cabin in the Woods hype is getting silly.
And Kick-Ass 2 back set to film this summer.

I remember as a kid getting excited for USA's Up All Night movie of the week. Hoping it was the blonde with big fake boobs hosting it. Instead it was always Gilbert Gottfried. This Browns draft is like that...it's Gilbert Gottfried.

RE: Cabin in the Woods
Disappointed. Thought there was going to be more to it.
Two things I loved: 1. Thor's speech on the bike...because you're so excited about what was coming next. 2. Merman

I know you guys are waiting with bated breath for this one, judging by the sheer volume of PMs from e0y and NFG that I've received:
The Avengers:meh+
There's no need to adjust your internet, you are correct in reading that 93% rating at Rotten Tomatoes and those forecasts of box office records being shattered. How? "How is this even remotely possible, bobharris?!", you might think/mutter to yourself.
I don't know.
The Good: It is not a clusterfuck; at least not all of the time. The Robert Downy Jr. quip-a-thon continues in earnest and that is a good thing. Without him, this might not work at all and the filmmakers are aware of it. The actor who plays the main villain does a really good job with little to work with. Hemsworth looks and sounds like Thor. They have realized that less is more with a wholly-CGI Hulk. Johannson has a nice caboose. The Prometheus and Dark Knight Rises trailers were cool.
The Bad: It's really comic booky. I guess that it should go without saying, but you're not getting the marginally realistic stuff here. I couldn't get past how stupid and cheesy Cap's uniform looks, not sure why they changed it. The film presupposes that you watched Iron Man 2 (bad), Thor (okay), and Captain America (bad); although the plot isn't exactly complex like, say, The Lost Boys. I'm also not sure if I like Chris Evans, he mostly annoys me, even though he was great in Scott Pilgrim. Maybe he's just annoying as Cap. There are more than a fair share of jokes that don't work despite all of the cackling retards in the theater. Renner doesn't have much to do here, just kind of brood and (SPOILER) shoot arrows. I have nothing against Ruffalo, but I couldn't help but wonder how different it would be with Norton as Banner. He almost adds gravity just by being there.
*If you see this at the theater (flats), know that there are two after-the-credits things*

For all Nolan's douchiness (I'm looking at you Inception) he sure seems to enjoy making really good trailers.
*Following is still my favorite Nolan movie

Am I crazy or is Rotten Tomatos not suffering from a serious bought of "over-inflated scoreitis" these days?
Also, Tree of Life is on Cinemax on Demand! If you don't have it that means it will be on HBO in a month or so!
And La Dolce Vita is on Showtime on Demand (confusing!)!

Dark Shadows: meh
Just when I was about to agree with e0y about rotten tomatoes being too nice, comes this one.
A 42% brutalization? It's not great, but damn. It's like they're trying to cover their asses for jerking off all over each other for The Avengers (which is sitting better with me in retrospect [As I imagine sitting at home with beer, not dodging a bunch of dudes dressed like Thor/Cap, and having them applaud every time someone does anything and shriek with laughter every time a hint of a joke happens {some jokes are meant to be mildly amusing--not everything is laugh-out-loud funny} or people gushing after the movie] but such are the perils of opening-night viewings). Or maybe they're just sick of Depp/Burton collabs that aren't Ed/Edward Wood/Scissorhands?
The Good: The first fifteen mintues is totally solid. Looks fuckin' great. Elfman works his magic yet again with the score. Some choice 70's music is present. Depp is perfect. There is nothing wrong with the cast, even the story looks to be interesting at first. Also, (VERY MILD SPOILER) I love it when the title is the some size, font, and in the same rhythm with the rest of the credits.
The Bad: It's just not all that compelling or funny overall. I know that dramas need moments of levity and vice-versa; and that sometimes, a very fine balance can be struck, but not here. Not all of the laughs work. The fish-out-of-water thing is obvious--most of the jokes are in the trailer (although there are a few truly funny ones that are not in it). The thing about it is that Burton has kinda made the drama/comedy balance his thing, albeit draped in eccentricities. It's just not firing all on all pistons here. But it's really not as bad as rotten tomatoes would have you believe.
It's like the perfect hungover-Sunday TNT/TBS movie. One that you'll actually not flip away from on commercial, just get on your phone for a sec. When it's over, you'll think, "That wasn't bad. Maybe I'll just download/rent/buy(!) it. After all, bobharris didn't hate it." But I'm telling you no now. Or now no. Whatever. You don't need to do that. Just give it that Sunday afternoon of 85% attention for a few hours.

The Grey: not as bad/cheeseball/cliche/boring as you think. Got around to watching this today. Holy fuckballs is the trailer for this movie misleading. Seriously. It isn't an action film. It isn't an adventure film. There is no real badass Liam Neeson character in the movie... It was a good flick, but I went into it (on my computer screen) thinking I was in for something completely different. In that regard, I feel a bit let down. If I had known that it was actually a drama; a cold, hard look at men facing down a very real and almost certain death, I wouldn't have been as irritated at the end of the film as I was. Meh... in summation. The Grey is a good drama. It isn't a little-whiskey-bottle-wolf-punching-ass-kicking-good-time film, as the trailer leads you to believe.
