Go see Moonrise Kingdom, bobharris.
(MFA: ^because I want to hear about it; not because I've seen it and am recommending it)

^^ Now that is a fuckin teaser trailer.
^ Sorry bow. It's not in the cards, you're just gonna have to gamble and see for yourself if you get Rushmore or The Life Aquatic. I got nothin' 'til Prometheus and not a whole not more until Dark Knight. The summer is kinda meh except for the big releases. But, as e0y demonstrated, the Fall has promise.

^^ Now that is a fuckin teaser trailer. Hadn't watched it until now, and yes it is. Lots of movies I'm interested in this year: Moonrise Kingdom (with or without you, bobharris!) QT's new one Maybe this Master thing The Hobbit The Brad Pitt Irish Mob movie Maybe Daniel Day Lewis is Abraham Lincoln Maybe Prometheus I guess maybe The Batman The Gatsby trailer looks pretty lame, though, I think. And 3D? SMH.

The Hobbit can lick my balls.
I am 100% seeing Prometheus and probably The Master off of that list.
I'll probably see Batman in Theaters because I'll get talked into it, even though I am full on trying to quit this mainstream US bullshit.

And I have reached full on wait re: QT. Some of his shit is amazing, but I'll give it a month of review before committing.

Which might mean he's due, I guess. I know that if anyone else was making a slavenge flick starring Jamie Foxx, it'd take a pooload of convincing for me to see it. Also, quitting "Mainstream USBS" ='s quitting SPORTZ!!1!!!, which is Amurrrcanly unpossible.

Death Proof/Grindhouse is not that far back on his resume.
And bullshit on the sports remark, soccer fans are worse than any US fans.

-I never saw Deathproof/Grindhouse. Mostly because I never really counted it as being his.
-So mainstream USBS that isn't exclusive to the US is fine with you, then? Shrug.

To be fair I do despise most sports fans, that is why I enjoy Twitter and here, as I can avoid the moronicies.

Yep, almost got in a fight tonight watching the Celtics because I got sick and tired of some kid ranting and raving about Josh Smith being a great player and LBJ being one of the best post players in the league (HE HAD A LOT OF TOUCHES ON THE ELBOW YOU KNOW@#$%@).
I fucking hate people.

Prometheus: Meh +
I was really torn about the Heh-/Meh+ division here. I had some conflicting feelings on this one. It should go without saying that I am a big fan of the first two films in the franchise. Especially the first one: a perfect marriage of sci fi and horror. So maybe my standards are a bit high on this one.
The Good: A lot. Pretty much everything but the last 1/3rd of the script. It looks, sounds, and feels like Alien. Music, effects, et al, has the right fuckin' vibe.
The cast is on point. Fassbender is as great as you've heard. Theron is good, Rapace is good, Stringer Bell is in the house!!!
About 30 minutes in I was like, "Man I can't wait to get back to CS and lay down a straight up 'Heh' on those mo-fuckerz!!" But then..
The Bad: Most movies can coast by on all of this ^^ stuff alone. But a film this ambitious needs a great story and it's not quite all the way there. It just kinda goes off the rails.
I'm not knocking it just because it veers from the predictable to the inexplicable when it comes to character behavior and/or plot points. I'm also not knocking it due to a character showing up in the last act that is completely unnecessary and distracting. I'm also also not knocking a completely corny and hackneyed line (from Theron's character) that is so soap-opera that I wanted to stand up and boo.
What I'm knocking is that there is some real potential in this story that's wasted, some intriguing concepts that could have been great. Those concepts, coupled all of the aforementioned stuff in the good department = great/masterpiece territory. We definitely don't get that.
But that's just me, I'd be interested in what you guyz think, should you see it.

Can't really disagree with bobharris.
Fassbender kept it all the way through. Elba was pretty much better than everyone else in every scene he was in.
Funny thing is that most (stupid!!1!) people who complain about Prometheus complain about the first 2/3 being slow. And yet the problem with the movie is exactly what bobharris pointed out about the last 1/3.
Ridley Scott still has it. Story/script needed help.

"Recognized as the godfather of Gangsta rap, Ice-T..."
Does anyone really recognize him this way?
Someone like KRS-One should be thinking to himself, "Why-TF am I on this side of this interview?"
