^ obviously missed me starting to hype this in here months ago.
And anytime anyone writes a movie ripping Scientology I'm excited, but when it is Paul Thomas Anderson I am really, really, excited.
If there was ever a time for Joaquin to make his Oscar push....

Scientology's "celebrity beard service" sector seems to be failing lately.

Adventureland = Awesome. Sure I'm five years late and sure the ending is a bit meh, but a really awesome Netflix style movie.
And if you have Netflix and haven't watched Drive or Kick Ass (which is still fucking fantastic) you're an idiot.

Two things about Kick Ass: perfect casting (Nic Cage...who knew that role would be perfect for him!!!1!!) and it was directed exactly the way it should have been.
Drive is the perfect 'sneak up on you with how good it was' kind of movie.
I affirm that these are awesome Netflix style movies.
Oh, I watched Basterds yesterday. Still better than Pulp Fiction. The scene in bar is cinematic awesomeness. Fassbener once again. The guy just steals scenes.

<-- still shocked at how enjoyable Adventureland was.
This is in no doubt partially because the only other thing I have watched this week was a very good documentary on the Catholic Church Pedophiles and associated cover-up.

a very good documentary on the Catholic Church Pedophiles and associated cover-up. Was it "Deliver Us From Evil"? 'Cause I've been meaning to see that.

I apologize in advance to NFG, if he clicks on this thread thinking I saw "The Watch" or "Step Up Revolution." I did not.
There was some internal debate about if we'll see "Total Recall." At first I wasn't sure. Then I said maybe, just maybe, if they can focus more on the book and the psychological aspects of it.
But then I said it was heresy, since they are using the three-titted hooker, which IIRC, is not in the book. But even worse than that, is that it's rated fucking PG-13!
So you're gonna use the three-boobed hooker, even though you don't want to seem like an unnecessary reboot, but then you can't even show us three fake boobs. From heresy to folly.
I am also trying to quash a push to see the new Will Ferrell. But, seeing how it's the last summer movie in the pike, I may be overruled. Oh well. He's due for something funny. Right?

Yes and it was really well done. Like, really really well done and exceptionally disturbing.
Also, Biel is in Total Recall, that always wins.

No need to apologize. We all know you see a whole lot more than you review here. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we want to see the bobharris breakdown for The Watch and its ilk that you know...and I know...and we all know...you go and see. 2. Perhaps three-boobed is simply a tip-o-the-hat to the original movie and the rest stays closer to the book??!? One hat-tip is ok...right??? 3. No. He's not due because he's not all that funny. And I can tell you that it would have been infinitely better if Zack stayed in his Between Two Ferns character.

RT critics take out their defensiveness from TDKR criticism on Total Recall.
Maybe The Bourne Pregnancy had the forward thinking to buffer themselves with Total Recall...knowing it was going to be crap...thereby providing a more compelling TDKR-late summer alternative.
Here's to bobharris sharing with us his breakdown of Total Recall

Watched the MMA fighter chick (Gina Carano?) movie "Haywire" the other day. Wasn't too bad. I was suprisingly ok with it. So...really behind...finally saw this. Soderbourgh takes joy in the subtle and muted. Unassuming but worth it a viewing. Things I Liked: 1. Michael Fassbender. Pretty much in the "I will see whatever he's in" camp right now. He takes nothing roles and pretty much is better than everyone else. His character could have been played by any hack but better scenes of the movie because of him. 2. Channing Tatum. He's got slow-minded down. 3. Antonio Banderas' beard. Pretty spectacular. 4. Gina Carano's awkward acting actually fit the character nicely. Can't see her doing anything else noteworthy, though. 5. Why the hell am I reviewing a non-descript movie that's a year old on a Thursday night at 11:30? sigh....Netflix wins again.

Carnage from Polanski, watch it. Buy or rent or whatever, watch it. A play with onky four stars, translated into a cast of Jodie Foster, John C Reilly, Christopher Waltz and Kate Winslet. So awkward and awesome, it is like an even cleaner version of Louie

Skyfall: boring as hell.
Don't understand why snobby critics liked it. There's a whole host of problems with it, like their inability to have any suspense whatsoever and awkward dialogue to force a story no one gave a damn about.
Not the best Bond ever. Not even Craig's best.
Meh -
